When I was a kid, I thought I was going to be the next great filmmaker: Kurosawa, Kubrick, Spielberg, Scorsese, Nolan, and … Ngo? Like most aspiring filmmakers, however, I did what everyone else did.

I created based on what I knew or just saw.

That’s not creative. That’s derivative.
